Since I have both the Encok WM01 and WM01 PLUS, I decided to do a simple comparison to find out which one is better and which one is more bang-for-buck.
PRICE
Now, the WM01 retails for around 15 USD (1,646.10 BD Tk) , while the WM01 Plus retails for twice the price around 30 USD(3,292.19BD Tk).
So if you are sensitive to Price, Go for WM01
BATTERY LIFE
- In terms of Battery life, both earbuds of WM01 and WM01 plus can last up to 5 hrs @ 70% volume level.
- The WM01 charging case is able to provide an additional 15 hours
- The WM01 Plus charging case is able to provide an additional 45 hours
- WM01 plus also has a huge LED display for battery info.
- Both utilizes USB-C charging port.
- If you want something which can last you for weeks without charging, go for WM01 plus.
DESIGN & FIT
- Both WM01 and WM01 plus have ear-tips which go slightly into your ear canal.
- Both earbuds are similarly shaped and looks literally identical. If someone was to mix these earbuds up, its really almost impossible to tell them apart. but if you inspect closer, WM01 earbuds have deeper sides which provide better grip compared to WM01 plus
- And this is important whenever you wanna adjust the earbuds a bit
- Both earbuds do not trap heat, so you should feel comfort and won’t suffer ear fatigue for all-day wearing.
- WM01 charging case is much smaller, much lighter and less chunky, compared to WM01 plus
- WM01 case also takes up far lesser space in the handbag/Sling bag/Fanny pack
- WM01 edges out with smaller casing
WATERPROOF
- Both do not have proper IPX waterproof rating.
- Which means it is not recommended to wear them for wet sports and sweaty workout sessions.
- This category is a tie.
CONNECTIVITY
- Both uses BT 5.0 and quick pairing.
- Both also works seamlessly with iOS, Android, MacOS and Windows platforms.
- Both has no smartphone app support
- This is a tie.
TOUCH CONTROLS
- Both can be controlled via touch controls or voice assistants.
- The touch commands are exactly the same. This is a tie.
SOUND QUALITY
- Both uses 6mm audio drivers.
- The audio drivers for both are not very good, certain songs will have “hissing” or “rattling” sound
- Music quality wise. Generally, it is flat. Not much bass. Vocals are clear.
- Interestingly WM01 has a much louder audio output compared to WM01 plus.
- WM01 wins slightly.
Final Verdict
Which is the Right one? WM01 or WM01 plus?
IMO, I feel that the regular WM01 is more than sufficient to satisfy most people, as there are not much differences between both of them, other than WM01 plus having a far bigger battery size and a LED display and thus I personally feel that it doesn’t justify paying for more to get the WM01 Plus.
In fact, there are earbuds such as AWEI TA8, QCY HT03, with ANC features, low sound latency and they are around the same price point as WM01 Plus.
